Welcome to Battlefield Cribbage
Battlefield Cribbage [BFC] is a game for people who love strategies, probabilities, and risk.   While preserving the purity of cribbage, BFC adds a new dimension.  The cards are played openly, and the players are like generals making orders on a battlefield.  Unlike cribbage where your hand can be greatly influenced by the luck of the cards, victory comes to those who can implement strategies. BFC requires the strategy of chess and provides the fast paced thrill of cribbage.

After playing a few games of BFC you will quickly feel the satisfaction of a new classic.  You will find yourself talking about the game hours after it is over.   BFC is cribbage taken to a new level.

Summary of the Game Play

Battlefield Cribbage can be played with 2, 3 or 4 players.  In 4-player, there can be two teams, or everyone can play on their own. You will be fascinated by the dramatic changes in game dynamics for each game type.

Rather than creating a cribbage hand with the cards you are dealt, you build a hand by taking cards from a draw pile or the line.  The cards are played openly for all players to see. Decisions are made based on a player’s developing cribbage hand and also the hands of their opponents.  Every decision has a consequence. Like cribbage, points are earned in pegging and the scoring of hands at the end of a round.  BFC makes pegging points more dynamic by adding double runs, triple runs and double-double runs.  BFC adds a joker to the deck, which kills any hand it is in during the scoring of the hands.

The game is played in rounds. Five cards are dealt to each player and they are placed face down in front of them.  Players begin to reveal their cards by turning face up by taking a card from a draw pile or the line where points are pegged.  Points are earned during the round as player place cards on the line.   At the end of the round hands are score the same a cribbage.

At the end of a round, whatever hand has the joker scores zero points, or ‘has been killed’.  Hence, the joker is termed as the kill card.  Any hand can be killed, including the crib.  If the joker becomes the common card all the hands are killed.  The joker can be a powerful tool or a dreaded curse depending on your strategy and position in the game.

No special equipment is required!

BFC is played using a standard deck of cards, with the joker and a cribbage board.  If you’re a cribbage player BFC will come easily. If you are new to cribbage, the scoring will seem a little overwhelming at first, but it will soon become second nature.

"Battlefield Cribbage, by A Step Beyond Nowhere was one of my Quick Picks a few weeks ago. As I mentioned then, I've always loved Cribbage since my Dad taught me to play when I was 8 years old. He had been Cribbage Champion of the Pacific Fleet during World War II, so I learned from one of the best. I think he'd have liked Battlefield Cribbage. In the most fundamental sense it stays true to the classic game of Cribbage. At the same time, however, it adds a new level of intensity. It introduces strategy, which is an interesting concept for Cribbage. Nicely done.

Battlefield Cribbage is easy-to-learn whether you already know how to play or not. How do I know? I had a fried who doesn't play Cribbage try it out. The scoring is same with only some minor differences introduced by this games approach. I suppose the biggest difference is that you can see all the cards, which you normally can't in regular Cribbage. In a way, that is where the strategy comes in. You make decisions knowing what the other players have and there can be up to 4 players.

If you're looking for a fun, non-violent game to play, try Battlefield Cribbage. For those who play Cribbage it's a way to add more excitement and challenge to the game. And if you haven't played Cribbage before, Battlefield Cribbage will get you hooked. It really kicks it up a notch and the introduction of strategy really makes a difference. I like Battlefield Cribbage so much that it's not only a Pick, it's also a Dr. File Finder Favorite and there aren't very many of those. So, check it out for yourself, I think you'll like it."
